How Many Stages Can Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) Be Divided
Polycystic Kidney Disease is a kind of chronic kidney disease, which can affect both your physical and mental health. How many stages can it be divided? To know the answer can help you find out the disease earlier and not delay the best time for treatment.

1. Occurrence stage

This is a genetic disease. Generally once you were born, there are cysts on kidneys. But they are too small to be found out not until you are 20 years old. If your family members are with this kind of disease, you had better do checkups regularly so as to observe the growth of renal cysts.

2. Growth stage

Between 30-40 years old, kidney cysts grow up quickly. This period is called growth stage, in which you should strengthen observation. And western medicines can do nothing for you, but control symptoms, such as high blood pressure. In fact, you can try Chinese medicine that can help promote blood circulation to remove blood stasis so as to slow down the growth rate of renal cysts so as to achieve the goal of prolonging life expectancy.

3. Enlargement stage

Once you are older than 40 years old, renal cysts will enlarge further. When they grow bigger than 4cm until they rupture, it is called enlargement stage. With the enlargement of renal cysts, you may have a variety of clinical manifestations, such as back pain, proteinuria, hematuria, elevated blood pressure, etc. As to treatment, combination of western medicine and Chinese medicine can be used. Chinese medicine can help eliminate toxins from blood, improve blood circulation and reduce cyst fluid to protect kidney function.

4. Rupture stage

If renal cysts keep on growing, they will rupture under some external cause. Once they rupture, you should be hospitalized to control infections and prevent acute renal failure.

5. Uremia stage

In early stage, you can take symptomatic treatment. In advanced stage, dialysis should be started.
