End Stage Renal Disease Secondary to Chronic GlomerulonephritisChronic Glomerulonephritis, also known as glomerular nephritis is a progressive kidney disease that involves the glomeruli, the individual filtering units of the kidney that produce urine. When the glomeruli become inflamed, the kidneys can’t filter urine properly, then excess fluid and toxins will build up in the body, resulting in end stage renal disease (ESRD) or Kidney Failure.

The facts on Glomerulonephritis.

Actually it is a term used to refers to several renal diseases rather than a single disease. Its presentation depends on the specific disease entity: it may present with isolated hematuria and/or proteinuria (blood or protein in the urine); or as a nephrotic syndrome, a nephritic syndrome, acute kidney injury, or chronic kidney disease. In addition, there are two main types of glomerulonephritis: primary and secondary. The former affects the kidneys directly while as for the later, the kidneys are damaged as a result of another illness. If uncontrolled properly, both of them can lead to kidney failure directly, which is a condition that kidney function drops 15% or even less.

The symptoms of ESRD secondary to chronic glomerulonerphritis.

Because of the large role the kidneys play in maintaining the body’s health, the symptoms of glomerulonephritis and kidney failure are quite varied.

-Blood urine

-Excessive foaming of the urine

-Decreased urination

-Confusion

-Fatigue

-High blood pressure

-Itchy Skin

-Nausea and Vomiting

-Muscle twitching or cramping

-Nosebleeds

-puffy eyes, hands, and feet (called Edema)

-Poor appetite

-Lose weight

-A yellow-brown tint to the skin

The symptoms can become more severe if the inflammation isn’t treated and kidney damage gets worse. Seizures and coma are possible in the later stages.
